Q: What is the difference between a Guest Member and a Paid Member?

A: Guest memberships are free and allow access to our 50+ years of Newsletters and our published research on George Soule and his family. Guest memberships must be renewed each year. Paid Members have the option to join as a Regular Member for one year, a discounted 5-year membership, youth membership (under age 22), or a lifetime membership. Paid Members have access to the Members Only menu tab that allows access to a directory of the other members and their Soule lineage. Plus they can access and add their approved Soule lineage to our Family Tree Database. Additionally, Paid Members get to vote in our elections, participate in our annual meeting, and receive invitations to attend Soule Kindred reunions and other special events. back-to-top

Q: I am having trouble trying to login on Soule Kindred.  Can you help me with that?

A: To login to the Soule Kindred Website click the login button in the upper right. It will prompt you to enter your user email and your password. Your login name must be your email. If you don’t know your password, click the "Forget Password” at the bottom of the login window. You will receive an email asking you for a new password. If you don’t get that email, check your spam folder. back-to-top

Q: How do I create or change my password on your website?

A: If you need a new password or change your password, click on the "Log in” button at the top of the page and a small login window will pop-up. Go to the very bottom of that pop-up window and click on the “Forget password” link. The system will then send an email to change your password. Your login name is always your email. back-to-top

Q: I'm trying to reset my password and it's asking for a Code. Can you help?

A: Scroll down just a little and you’ll see a box with 6 characters. That’s the “Code” you need to enter. You may already know this but it’s called a “captcha” and it’s to keep computer programs from creating fake memberships. back-to-top

Q: How do I access the “members only” benefits.

A: Once you become a “paid” member, you should see a "Members Only” menu tab. Guest members do not have access to the Members Only menu. This menu allows access the Member Directory and the Family Tree Database. The Family Tree Database is a link to a completely different website which requires its own user name and password.  To access the Family Tree Database, your George Soule Lineage must be accepted by our Lineage Assistance Committee. This is necessary to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the database. After your lineage is accepted by the Lineage Assistance Committee, you will be given access and the ability to add your tree to the Family Tree Database. Guest members do not have access to the Members Only menu. back-to-top

back-to-top

Q. Do you accept credit cards?

A: Yes, we accept all major credit cards.

Q: Where is the Renew button?

A: We don’t have a Renew button. With a renewal button we found members were renewing too early or multiple times because they weren’t sure when or if was time to renew.

Our website takes care of all that:

  • 28 days before the renewal date, members will get an email with an invoice and link to renew. If they login to the website within 28 days of renewal, they will get a popup letting them know it is time to renew.
  • 14 days before the renewal date, members will get another email with an invoice and link to renew.
  • On the renewal date, members will get another email with an invoice and link to renew.
  • 7 days after the renewal date, they will get an email with a final request to renew.
  • If they haven’t renewed 14 days after renewal date, they will automatically become a “Guest” member.

Q: When do I need to renew?

A: You will receive an email with an invoice 1 month before your renewal, and we’ll send reminders if you forget :-). Within that one-month window you will also see a pop-up when you log into the Soule Kindred website. Lastly, you can go to your user profile to see your due date for renewal:

  1. Log in
  2. Click on your name at the top of the page.

A: Log in and click on your name at the top of the page. A small window will pop-up. Click on "View profile” to access your profile page. Q: Why am I not receiving emails from Soule Kindred?

A: We have noticed that certain Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are not accepting emails from Soule Kindred. We periodically send out informational emails for elections, newsletters, events, fund raising, and most importantly, renewal reminders. These ISPs in particular seem to be rejecting our emails: att.netbellsouth.netpacbell.net, and sbcglobal.net.

You may need to “whitelist” emails coming from Soule Kindred so they do not get blocked by your ISP. If you’re not sure how to do this, contact your Internet Service Provider and ask them what you need to do to let Soule Kindred emails through to your email client. back-to-top

QPreviously I was able to do "recurring" membership payments. Why can I no longer do that?

A: We stopped accepting "automatic payments" because it was causing a lot of problems. Members were not cancelling their automatic payments when they no longer wished to remain a member, or they were changing emails without telling us and continued to have payments deducted from their credit card when they didn’t want to renew. We found ourselves sending out a lot of refunds. The new billing system sends out several renewal reminders with a link to renew using a credit card or by sending a check. Soule Kindred does not store or have access to your credit card information, only the merchant services company. back-to-top

Q: I cannot access the Family Tree Database as I have trouble logging in. When I try to change password, it doesn't go to my email and when I try to register it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?

A: The Family Tree Database is a completely separate website and requires registration and a separate login and password. Once your George Soule lineage is accepted by our Lineage Assistance Committee, you will be given instructions and access to the Family Tree Database. We do this to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the database. If you haven’t heard from anyone regarding your accepted lineage or access to the database, contact us. back-to-top

Q: Your website specifically states that you don’t have to be a descendant to join. I paid for a membership and am being denied access to your Family Tree Database until my lineage is approved. I submitted what you asked for...why can I not access the Family Tree Database?

A: To access the FTD, you need to be a paid member and you do need to have your lineage accepted by the Lineage Assistance Committee (see the previous question and answer). This is how we maintain the integrity of the FTD.  If, and only if, you are a paid member of Soule Kindred and do not have an accepted lineage or are not sure about your George Soule descendancy, we can give you “View Only” access to the Family Tree Database to help you determine if you are a descendant. Paid members may contact Deanna Lucas for information on how to get “View Only” to the Family Tree Databaseback-to-top
